Microsoft Teams Meeting Software Simulation Course and More

Work your way through the basics of starting and running a quick Microsoft Teams meeting. You get to fully interact in a realistic Microsoft Teams software simulation and help Vera, a project manager, do everything. This learning experience gives you full control and helps you learn as you do.

We built this short, less than 15-minute course, from beginning to end. Our goal was to show you what quality corporate technical training looks like and experience it for yourself.

Preview the course in this short video or experience for yourself and learning Microsoft Teams while you're at it.

Making This Interactive Software Simulation Course

Our process has several steps, which you can see in these documents. Our needs analysis was a bit different for this project because we couldn't ask ourselves questions. After the needs analysis, we followed our standard process.

Here's the process for figuring out what would be covered and creating this interactive course:

  • The outline was drafted to lay out project information, objectives, scenario, and course outline. This document is the plan that guides effective course creation.
  • With the outline (plan) in hand we created the storyboard which is sort of like a blueprint. It has the narration, on-screen text, and even instructions for how all interactions work.
  • Once satisfied with the storyboard we recorded the audio with a real human, not synthesized voice.
  • Developing the course involves creating the structure, capturing screenshots, and recording audio all simultaneously.
  • Since nothing always goes as planned, we made modifications along the way which involved revisions to the script as well as audio and screenshot updates.
  • After development was complete, it went through several stages of quality assurance. It was viewed and reviewed nearly a dozen times by various associates.
  • After everything was fine tuned to as near perfection as possible, we published the course into our LMS as well as a web version that's available on this page for preview. Time to enjoy!

Performance Support

The job aid we created to accompany this course helps people start a quick, unscheduled meeting in Microsoft Teams. It's one of many performance support items that might support this course, with the goal of aiding knowledge when employees need to perform the task—kind of like a reminder.

Many additional job aids and quick reference guides would typically accompany this course, and a location would be shared in the course where employees could find these resources for future use. Here are some additional resources we might create for the course:

  • Record a Teams meeting.
  • Tun on/off camera and configure camera settings.
  • Share your screen in a Teams meeting.
  • Meeting settings quick reference guide.
  • Meeting controls quick reference guide.
  • View meeting recording, chat history, transcript, and more.
